Susan,
How about pumping her breasts with the Medela Classic 015 (or like pump),
the nurse or LC would hold it on for her. Put pads under her or towels
all around as surely the milk will flow back onto this mother. Messy, but
gets the milk out and the lactation going. And I would do this on a
schedule, q3, q4, or q6 depending on how sick she is and how she
tolerates.
