From a post from me to someone else, but relevant to LactNetters as well:

Have you seen the newest Pediatrics? Read the first article on the high
prevalence of deliberate suffocation of children captured by covert
surveillance of parents caring for children admitted to hospital for
"apparent life threatening events" -- it is horrifying how many parents
they caught on videotape deliberately suffocating their children to cause an
ALTE, and how many of those kids had siblings who died of SIDS. They also
captured videotape of a mother breaking an infant's arm (!), physically and
verbally abusing the children, and two cases of deliberate poisoning. It is
a horrifying but very important article that may finally clue medical
professionals in to the fact that some/many cases of SIDS may be very
deliberate -- perhaps especially those where the baby was cosleeping when
the "SIDS" happened??
