Just a thought...would placental/umbilical return of maternal blood
to the infant be a great factor in birth weight and loss thereof?
So many babies these days do not get the benefit of this blood return
since their cords are clamped and cut immediately; perhaps NOT receiving
the blood is a factor in how much weight the baby subsequently sheds.
Of course the babies whose cords are allowed to
stop pulsating before clamping, will likely have a birthweight higher
by a couple of ounces, but could this also help them to retain their
weight in some way? Any takers on this one....Dr. Jack? Dr. Tom?
