I am posting this on behalf of a fellow counselor who does not have
computer access. She is counseling a mom with a 3 month old baby. Mom
just had surgery (brain) on 11/5 to treat seizures. Surgery went well
and mom has no side effects. However she was on multiple meds post
surgery, including phenobarbital, dilantin, decadron.
She had an allergic reaction (rash) which a dermatologist said was due
to the dilantin. She was stopped from dilantin and put on vasotril(sp?)
for the rash and given a script for a substitute for dilantin, tegretol.
The mom has received conflicting information on whether this drug is
safe for HER, much less for bf.
We are looking for something tangible to offer the mom in the way of
recommendations. I have been thru the archives. Anything else will
help. Thanks in advance.
