A good friend and work colleague had twins (35 wks) this morn. via
c-section. One was 5.15 lbs. and the other, 2.2 lbs. Y'day, we discussed
what would happen when she and the heavier twin were discharged. She has
been told by her brother, a fairly new ped. not to bring the one twin
back into the hospital b/c of the "germs." Also she and brother are
thinking that b/c it is a city hosp. with a large neonatal unit that
the people there might have worse germs! I couldn't say anything since
her brother is a doctor, and I'm only a LLLL. So that means the bigger
baby will be left at home all day with a bottle (ABM would be my guess).
She does have help to go with her, including me, to take care of the big
one. Anyone have any comments. (Dr. Jack are you other there? ;-).
Also, if there's anyone out there at Pennsylvania Hospital in Phila.?
(that's where she's at.)
I hope I didn't clutter the list. I have a lot invested in this one, but
I've convinced myself she won't breastfeed for long, so I won't be
disappointed when she stops. She does have a rocky road with so many
issues.
TIA,
Melissa Kirsch, J.D., LLLL, Mt. Holly, NJ
