Loyann:
Jan Ellen Brown spoke at the ILCA conference in '95 on CF. I
think it was a break-out session.
"Despite a mother's adequate milk supply and frequent feedings,
some babies with CF have difficulty gaining weight. In some cases weight
loss threatens not only babys growth and development, but also weakens
the baby;s ability to fight infection.
The mother needs to be reassured it is not a matter that her milk
is "weak" or not enough for the baby, but rather the baby's metabolic
needs can not be met with her milk alone."
I don't know whether the tape of this session is still available,
but I can always xerox my notes and send them. E-mail me privately if
you want them.
Hope this helps. This mom will need lots of TLC and support.
