I am writing this for another LLL leader. She has a mom with a five week old
who was bf just fine until last week when the baby suddenly began to spit up
volumes after every feed. Wet and dirty diapers decreased. Baby has not
been weighed. The father, who is not very supportive of bf, convinced the
mom it was her milk and insisted the baby get formula. The mother pumped and
dumped for 24 hours and gave the baby formula. No throwing up. Mother
resumed bf and the baby again vomited after each feed. (Rats... :-/ )
Mother denies any change in diet, drugs, herbs etc. No exposure to flu.
Any suggestions? Could this be pyloric stenosis? But why sudden onset and
why would ABM stay down and HM come up?
TIA
