Hi All,
Have searched the archives with no luck to find info on this subject.
Have a mom who had breast reduction surgery, (sorry don't know when) and has
diminished sensitivity to nipples, has signs of lack of oxytocin release
such as: no afterbirth pains while BF, and no MER in response to
nipple-stim/BF. Mom experienced engorgement for 2 days but baby stayed
hungry. She believes her L-O is fine, baby is on breast with a deep
tugging, no nipple soreness. Previous baby had problems with dehydration,
so mom has been supplementing from birth. She will be seeing an LC (a good
friend of mine IBCLC) and we will get more detailed info.
Question:
Could this be a problem that syntocin could help with (but how long can you
use this stuff?)
Please e-mail privately to [log in to unmask] as well as to the list. TIA!
PS Any suggestions on narrowing searches in the archives?
Thanks!
