It is difficult from the information in Hale to say whether
pravastatin would be the least worrisome of this group of drugs. It
has a very long half life, and relatively low protein binding.
However, it's oral bioavailability is quite low (17%). Thus, it is
unlikely to be a big issue.
Breastfeeding women apparently have higher cholesterols. Maybe this
is as it should be. If this woman absolutely needs to get her
cholesterol lower, is it not possibly to wait a few months, a year to
start her on medication?
Lovastatin might be a better choice, as it has a short half life, high
protein binding and low oral bioavailability.
