<< I am struck by several recent posts indicating that individuals have sought
to look up such reasons in books well known for containing accurate
information--books such as Riordan and Auerbach, Lawrence, the
Breastfeeding Answer Book. When nothing is found there, the question is
posed here.
It is quite possible that everything would not be included in those
volumes, but if NO MENTION is made at all, this may be a clue that there is
no rationale for said reason? (One would think SOMEONE would have heard of
it, read of it somewhere!) >>
It's true that if that is someone is looking for infomation on weaning and it
is not in the above listed books, then there is a very good chance the info
about said weaning is wrong.
However, I did want to make doubly sure I wasn't missing anything as I am not
a trained medical professional -I am a La Leche League Leader. To me, there
would be nothing worse than to suggest to the mom the advice to wean is
baseless, and then discover I missed some information in one of these books
simply because I don't have the background necessary to research medical
conditions from every angle.
I'm grateful for this forum that is available to me. Yes, it usually confirms
what I already suspect when I ask a question, but it's always comforting to
make sure.
