I am in the process of writing a letter regarding an article on Food
allergies written by a MD for a widely distributed free parents
newspaper. The text about "can bf prevent food allergy?" was overall
negative with the same info. as the Reuter's article about food allergens
being pass thru breast milk. The article I'm responding too never
mentioned that moms should breastfeed and avoid allergens; the
implication was that ABM was better.
What astounds me about both articles is why isn't it mentioned that these
babies who aren't breastfed are going to be exposed to some of the same
allergens--milk and soy. The article I'm responding to states that cows'
milk and soy are 2 of the 5 most allergic foods, but never states that
ABM is made of these products. Arghh!
