I appreciate Rachel's statement about NOW..and the new AAP guideline. I
think that NOW should strongly consider this position as a foundation for a
movement to support women in the workplace *with* children, making
allowances for children and bf and pumping, etc. I have had two people in
the last month tell me that they have been made to DOCK themselves vacation
time to pump. This seems absurd in the extreme to me...and abusive.
Smokers, ticktacktoe and solitaire players, and coffee drinkers are not
docked for their time away from their work/desk. Why, then are women who
pump docked time? Rachel, is this discrimination? Do women have a legal
right to pump?
I sincerely hope that NOW will abandon its patronizing tone, and use its
power to promote the rights of women in the workplace who choose to bf.
