I want to tell you a story of Gentian Violet.
The nursling is 2 years old and Mom had some itching and soreness of her
nipples so she decided to try Gentian violet. It relieved the irritation
quickly....but little boy took one look and cried, "No, Mommy! Wipe it off!"
Well, we all know that one doesn't "wipe it off." She told him that she
couldn't but it would taste just the same. He wouldn't feed all afternoon
and by bedtime she was uncomfortable. She turned off the lights and he
again asked her to wipe it off. She said "OK" and went to the bathroom and
"wiped" her breasts. Returning to bed (in the dark)she told him that she
had wiped it. He nursed long and happily throughout the night, but she knew
that daylight would come.
Next morning Daddy looked over as the little boy woke and proclaimed,
"Barney Boobies!!" Everyone laughed, and all was well.
It's all in the marketing.
Are there some of you who don't know Barney? He's a huge purple dinosaur.
