I have heard through other LC's over the last few yrs. that women w/ a
hx of anorexia or bulemia may have difficulty w/ an insufficient milk
production for exclusive breastfeeding. I have looked for info to
support or refute this, but have been unable to locate any. If any of
you have info pertaining to the effect that a hx of anorexia/bulemia
might have on milk supply, please e - mail me privately. I received a
call from a mom who has a 2 yr old and is now 7 mos pregnant and
concerned because she "failed" at brstfdg the first time because her
"milk never came in". I need to get a thorough hx on mom; however, I do
know that there are no medical problems that she is aware of except this
hx of anorexia when she was a teen. I'd like to have as much info as
possible on this connection before I meet with her next week.
Thanks so much.
