I'm posting this for a fellow breastfeeding coordinator who is not on
line:
Six days postpartum mom has fairly severe pain in the breast that was
operated on for cyst removal; there is a scar (visible) on the areola,
not the entire circumference. The pain occurs when baby breastfeeds, pain
less severe when mother pumps.
Is there any reason to restrict breastfeeds on the affected breast? Could
there be scar tissue/adhesions that become painful during letdown? Will
the adhesions "stretch" and become less painful?
(This mother has breastfed before (before she had surgery) and did
fine...)
Thanks
