Hi all,
I tried to send this message yesterday and I don't know what happened. If
it gets posted twice I apologize.
I received my new issue of Mother-Baby Journal yesterday and I was most
pleased to see a great article by our co-owner Kathleen Auerbach. The
article is: Hospital Discharge Formula Packs: do They Really Hinder
Breastfeeding? It reports what is currently in the literature on this
subject and also discusses the nurses dilemma in this area. Cites many
references. GREAT, GREAT JOB-- Kathleen!!
This will be so useful to me as I gently push to rid our hopital of these
"free gifts". I have continued to be pleased with this young journal
(entering its 2nd year of publication). This issue had 2 articles on
breastfeeding and as far as I know there has never been an advertisement
for artificial infant milk or for bottles or pacifiers, unlike other
maternal child publications.
The article is in Mother-Baby Journal, Vol.2, No. 6
Nov. 1997. pp 41-46.
Thanks Kathleen for a great article and for all that you do in the field
of lactation.
Sincerely,
Jodi Smart RN, IBCLC
Who is very proud to be part of this wonderful network.
