In reply to Chris Willison's question about whether Diana breastfed, I
believe she breastfed William for a few weeks, though my memory may not be
totally reliable. There was a well-publicized formal photograph of Charles,
Diana and baby at 6 wks p/p. Wills look very thin and underfed and I can
remember thinking to myself that BF was not going well.
I guessed that the royal baby managers (nurses or nannies) had him on a rigid
schedule and Diana, being unsure of herself, succumbed to their advice. I
think I remember reading that he was put on the bottle shortly after that
photograph because Diana didn't have enough milk for him. I can remember
feeling sad that her BF experience was undermined by poor advice, like so
many other first-time moms. He certainly plumped up by the time he was 3 or
4 months old which, of course, "proved" that the nannies were right.
I hope my memory has served me right. Anyone else out there with a different
impression of what happened?
