Hi, I'm Sharen Strosser RN, IBCLC. This is my first time posting a
question. I have been an LC for 11 years, currently hospital based. I
have been lurking for several months and feel like a library to the world
has opened up. Thanks to all of you. The question is from an OB
Physician who is also the patient. Some hx; third baby, sore nipples
with all. This time within the first 12 hours. Baby nursing q 2 hours,
with latch-on, positioning, and sucking assessment all fine. Mom tried
using Elocon oint. 0.1% per Lawrence pg. 247 and nipple soreness
improved. This is day 4 and milk isn't in. No prior problems with milk
production. Baby is slightly jaundice, no stool since Friday. Question
- could the steroid activity inhibit milk production (have estrogen type
effect as in other parts of the body)? TIA
