Hi all!
Just got a phone call from the daughter of a friend of my mother-in-law.
She's in Uniontown, Ohio (between Akron & Canton), 3 days postpartum, doing
well bf so far, but has been getting discouraging advice from friends/family.
Apparently she DID get good support at the hospital she delivered at (she
asked, when the baby was delivered, when she should start feeding her, & the
nurse handed her the baby & said "right now!") and also from the home health
nurse who saw her. But all it took was her sister-in-law saying, "you should
be leaking all over the place by now--I did--so you must not have any milk, &
your baby will starve." Of course, this woman stopped bf at 1 week "because
my milk was too watery", but she still proclaims herself the "expert".
Are there any LCs or LLLLs in that area on Lactnet, or does anyone have a
name/number I can give her for someone who'll be able to support her--and
help her find a decent pump for when she returns to work? (Her sister-in-law
had given her her Evenflo pump, since it hadn't worked for her.....)
TIA!
