Hello Everyone.

The 14 Sep 1997 issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer carried the following
article:

"GROUPS JOIN FORCES IN 'ALLIANCE FOR YOUTH' EVENT

In an effort to empower Montgomery County's youth through volunteerism,
various organizations will set up shop here next weekend to showcase their
work.

'Montgomery County's Promise:The Alliance for Youth Summit,' a conference
intended as a follow-up to President Clinton's volunteerism summit in
April, will run Friday to Sunday at the Fort Washinton Expo Center.

The summit is open to the public.

The host of the event is a group also calling itself Montgomery County's
Promise, headed by Rep. Jon D. Fox (R. Pa.)

                     <clip>

[states over 300 delegates, who will speak, etc. Then lists the "five
fundamental factors that summit organizers deem cirtical to youth
development in the area" one of which is "a healthy start"]

To help with the health start, admission to the summit will be a can of
baby formula, which will be donated to needy families in the county, Elkins
[Louise Elkins, assoc. dir. of United Way Volunteer Center of Southeastern
Pennsylvania] said."

A box next to the article also says that a can of formula may be bought at
the Expo Center for fifty cents if you neglect to bring one to use as your
admission fee.

Please call Jon Fox's contact person Linda Gearhard at 610-275-4460 or
e-mail Jon Fox at mailto:[log in to unmask] and protest the entry fee of a
can of formula and the representation of formula as a healthy start for
youth.
