I'm not clued up on medicinal plants etc.  but Aloe vera is used here
quite a lot in cosmetics (especially hair), not for ingestion as far
as I know.  I believe it's rather bitter.  Aloe leaves are also
apparently sometimes used instead of cabbage for engorgement.
