I am working with a mom who had a 28 week gestation baby about 2 months ago.
She has been pumping about 8x per day and was getting 4oz. per pump until a
month ago when her period started. She now has her second period and is
getting 5-10cc. Between periods she was getting 8-10cc. She is taking
fenugreek, mother's milk tea, and brewers yeast. Baby is 4lb, 4oz and coming
home in 2 days. Mom breastfeeds in hospital but baby is not getting enough.
It seems that the baby gets about 20cc when he breastfeeds so that is better
than what she gets with the pump. Mom's OB has put her on progestin only
birth control pills to hopefully increase her supply. I would really
appreciate any help in this situation. Thanks.
