I am just getting caught up on my reading and following the thread about
menses returning early and the possible causes. Just as an anecdote, my
son was exclusively breastfed until 5 months (and still nursing at 3 1/2
years and counting). However, my period returned at 6 WEEKS
postpartum. I never supplemented and we nursed at least 12 times a day
for the first 15 months and at least 8 times a day for the first 2 1/2
years. The only reason for the early return of menstruation that I
could figure is high estrogen levels due to excess weight. That could
be another reason beyond supplementing and contraceptive pills. Just my
two cents.
