Dear Pat (and everyone)
I have been working with a mom who has been battling yeast for
the past 2 months. Between us, I think we know EVERYTHING there is to
know about gentian violet use. (seems that way, anyway).
1. Put lanolin or vaseline on baby's lips and around baby's mouth
before swabbing with G.V.
2. mom needs to be half-naked before swabbing areolas.
3. G.V. will wash out of cloth, off counters and off skin with
rubbing alcohol, if used immediatly.
4. A q-tip with vodka can get stains off baby's face (we didn't
want to use rubbing alcohol on baby's skin). We rinsed vodka off immediatly.
I hope this helps. BTW, the mom (remember yeast and the wrong way to
tx?) is FINALLY free of yeast, but is taking antibiotics now for a
secondary br. infection. (sigh)
