Dianne: Did you hash over with the Mom that this *apparent* decrease
in supply could be the 6 week growth spurt, and the baby is simply
more hungry? And possibly the Mom's inability to pump was due to being
pressured to perform? Your suggestion for more frequent feeds makes
the most sense as first-suggestion-option. If Mom feels she wants to
"do something" (otherwise known as magic bullet syndrome), fenugreek
or brewer's yeast can't hurt, altho I myself try to keep expenses down
for the family. If more frequent feeds don't seem to be the answer,
perhaps think in the direction of checking thyroid levels.
But - all solutions should come after making sure that baby is really
being exclusively breastfed. Many do not understand that this means
not giving baby water or tea.
Look for the obvious first. Advice from an old-fashioned fuddy-duddy.
