While I understand the desire to avoid the controversy of dealing with amternity leaves and day care I think that they are very importatn issues that should
not be ignored. This is particulary true if this document is to
be distributed internationally.
I think it is important to keep in mind that breastfeeding is
part of being a new parent for which flexible maternity leaves and work
schedules
as
well as near site day care is very important. Also,
having pumped breastmilk be the child's main source of food for
8-10 mhours/day
is clearly a second best choice to being able to
have direct contact with the nursing mother.
