Not contraindicated, but there are better choices (sertraline--Zoloft).
If she is going to take these while breastfeeding only (not while
pregnant), then paroxetine (Paxil) is also a better choice than
fluoxetine.
Three things:
1. With this class of drug, I would say unequivocally that if the HCP
believe it is okay during pregnancy, it is okay during lactation. I am
somewhat concerned about these drugs being taken during pregnancy
though.
2. Never forget to consider the risk of not breastfeeding in the
equation--for the mother, for the baby, and for society.
3. The final decision is the *mother's*, and the family's, not the HCP.
