Never doubt the will of a two year old, Jack! My son "weaned" himself in my
second trimester for 11 weeks, then wanted back in a month before my due
date... it caused HUGE painful braxton-hicks contractions (you know the
"concrete belly" type) that could last as long as 45 minutes -- I finally
with both of us in tears had to insist he not nurse until the baby was born
-- he helped with my engorgement on day three PP and only played at kissing
the side of the breast while the baby nursed after that for six more
weeks... then he decided he needed back in on this action...and now, 14
months later is nursing 1-2X/day... go figure.
While I don't have a history of early labor or miscarraige, my midwife
supported me in determinineg what was best for the two of us... if I could
handle the contractions and they didn't progress to labor contrations (he
would nurse for an hour or more at a time...) she didn't feel there was any
need to worry... wait and see rather than insist one way or the other.
