Generally, I guess you have to rule out the possibility that the milk
could be infected with HIV, or one of the Hepatitis viruses, possibly
HTLV. You could culture the "donor milk" and test the mother. And
document all that. (At the hospital's cost, of course--US lactnetters
only). If the "donor" mother is positive for hepatitis A or B, the baby
could be immunized and given gamma globulin. If positive for HIV, hope.
