Hi all,

Diane Hertzog asked me to post this for her:

She was called by an oncologist who has a mom breastfeeding an adopted baby.
(Diane doesn't know how much milk mom is producing). Mom is 44; at sometime
in the past had a bone marrow malignancy. She now has an elevated
alkaphosphatase level, which is indicative of either an infection,
malignancy, or loss of bone density through loss of calcium. The physician's
question is, is the elevated level due to a reoccurance of the malignancy or
is it due to decreased bone density from breastfeeding?

Any takers on this one? It isn't in any of the books. Has anyone ever
measured alkaphosphatase levels in breastfeeding women to see what the
normals are???

TIA
Jan B -- wondering here in Wheaton.
