Hi all!
Pat, I also wondered whether a tradtional bris done on day 7 would be less
traumatic to the baby's breastfeeding than circumcision done the day after
birth. Didn't one of our fellow Lactnuts say recently that she(?) was a mohel?
What insight does she/he have on this?
Dr.Jack, sorry I didn't give more details about my friend and her baby. As I
recall, the little one shut down after the circumcision which prompted her
call to me. I know that they used a Wallaby unit at home. Apparently the baby
was taken off the breast temporarily. I saw the mom's pumped milk; it looked
like orange juice. She didn't ask my opinion about the MDs treatment. In her
case the jaundice got better before the breastfeeding did.
I'll have to remember about tummy-to-tummy being painful to these baby boys
and suggest football hold instead. Thanks Deb!
