Hello all,
I have some questions that I haven't seen answered yet re large breasts
and large breast increases during pregnancy and lactation. A mother
called me who is 7 mos pregnant and has grown from a D cup to a G cup
size and still growing. Breasts overshadow the abdomen, upper backache
worse than lower backache. She asked me some questions that neither her
OB, nor I, could answer and she has given me permission to post this:
1. Anything she should have her OB look for, or should she consider this
a normal variant? (I've had a mom with hyperprolactinemia and difficulty
conceiving and huge breast increase - but no infertility history here).
2. Will the breasts most likely remain large after lactation ceases, or
will they likely regress in these cases? (I imagine every mom is
different.)
3. Do women with this presentation have subsequent breast growth again,
with each subsequent pregnancy, getting even larger each time? (I imagine
the first pregnancy will be the most profound growth).
4. Anything else you can share re this lady's dilemma.
Her current concern is fitting a bra, and I have provided her with
resources for that. She is considering not breastfeeding, to avoid
further enlarging of the breasts. She is considering breast reduction
surgery after this lactation. We have discussed the pros/cons of all
these options.
Thanks,
