Dear Lacnetters,
I am following a mom and baby, now 4 days old. Mom had breast
implants 8 years ago. This is the first time I have seen a
periareolar incision for implants. Her incision goes from 3 o'clock
to 9 o'clock on each breast. I started her on a SNS on day 2 because
the baby was frantic and the hospital nurses were supplementing with
bottles, had convinced the parents that he needed more making them
paranoid and better at breast than not. Anyway, talked on phone
yesterday and had been pumping and supplementing until this AM and
thought she felt more full so agreed to trial of just breastfeeding
until this AM when I could see her watching output, satisfaction, etc.
Today I see her. Baby ate every hour last evening and night, slept 10
min and ate again, now becoming more discontent. Nursed one
side--little swallowing, pumped other side and 5-6cc expressed milk.
Will see me again tomorrow and will supplement every other feed at
least today. Now, I understand the possible limitation in supply but
will fenugreek or Reglan help?. Will an oxytocin also be needed?
