On July 10, a post read:
Nipple shield weaning: try cutting off a small piece of the shield every
day (as baby allows) until you are back to just good old Mom. Simple, yet
effective.

Please be careful with this.  I know this was the advise years ago for latex
shields.  The newer, more often used silicone shields work differently.  If a
mom tries to cut away at the tip, the edges are very sharp and can cut baby.
It is easier just to start the fdg and once good MER is achieved and nipple is
elongated, try "whipping it off" quickly, in between sucks.  Often the baby
goes back barely noticing the difference.
