What Tom Hale says about prescribing in the US is also true in Canada.
Just because a drug is not approved for a particular indication does not
mean that it is illegal or unethical to prescribe it. Canada's drug
laws allow a physician to prescribe a drug for any *reasonable* use even
if not approved.
Physicians should know, though, that the manufacturer might not back
him/her up if there turns out to be a problem. But, you know what, I
don't believe they would back us up even if the drug were prescribed for
an approved indication.
