The baby should be at the breast *before* they get a chance to do a
blood glucose. If they are doing it on every baby, this is
ridiculous.
Babies do *not* need formula during the first two days even if they do
need a supplement. Expressed milk is the best, followed by expressed
milk in glucose water, followed by glucose water. The best way to
give the supplement is by lactation aid if the baby is taking the
breast. Any other method is less acceptable. However, the first step
is to get the baby to latch on *so that he can get the colostrum that
is available*.
