Diane, about the age appropriate food being d'cd - right on!

I have an adorable (of course!) 5 y.o. granddaughter, Elisa. She is
petite, but weight for height has always been generally a little above
average. Pudgy, dimples, little round face, etc. She refused solids -
any at all - to about 9 mo. By about 2 y.o. to age 4 she ate limited foods
- broccoli, American cheese slices and bread (and she says don't forget
the popsicles!)

Around 4 she began to try foods, tastes etc. She would brag about eating
this or that. She now eats "normally", whatever that is for a 5 y.o., but
as my daughter says "real meals". Family was always very laid back and did
not push her to eat. No anemia. Doesn't eat eggs, or drink milk. Weaned
at about 3 1/2. Here's the kicker. Oldest sib-hay fever, 2nd sib- asthma,
3rd sib-eczema, Elisa -all of the above! My daughter - very tuned into
food allergies and intolerances - always felt that this baby instinctively
knew what not to eat! I think that belief is what gave my daughter the
power/ability to resist pressure from everyone in the world about this
baby's strange way of eating. Just food for thought!
