I wrote a few months ago about inducing lactation in a 47 year old mom
who would be adopting a newborn. I thought I would uppdate you, as I
saw the recent post about induced lactation.
This mom put the baby to breast 15 after the birth - baby latched very
willingly....and would nurse well, especially for comfort when she was
stressed. Mom also pumped, used SNS and some bottles.
She lives in Ontario, Canada (I live across the river in Port Huron,
Michigan) - and was prescribed a medication to induce lactation (starts
with an "M" - Dr. Jack, do you know what it is??) and it worked.....she
gets milk when she pumps and the baby is having BM stools (was very
constipated on formula).....
This is the kind of event that makes me proud to be a part of this
profession!!
