This question comes from an LC colleague. Her client has a 5 day old first
live baby after 4 previous pregnancies which ended in miscarriage, and the
last one in a stillbirth, following which mother's Hb level was 4 and she
required a blood transfusion. Does anyone have experience with what happens
during a subsequent lactation when there may have been a severe postpartum
haemmorhage (possible Sheehan's syndrome?) in the previous lactation? Would
the pituitary gland be permanently affected? Currently there is some
breastmilk being produced, but it appears to be dwindling. Thanks for any help.
