Good question. I know that women tend to complain of lower milk supplies
(and fussier babies) during their periods, and I know that MERs are less
noticeable when milk supply diminishes. Perhaps the hormones cause the
temporary decrease in supply, and with less stretching of the ducts, a
smaller response to oxytocin and less sensation overall? I'm
speculating, of course; though I was in "tutorial mode" ;-) I am also
the perpetual student of the mysteries of lactation!
