Tonight on ABC Evening News, there was a story about "rethinking" typcical
devilery procedures. An OB researcher in Quebec reported MORE tears in
women with episiotomies than in women without. The only benefit of the
procedure was to facilitate birth in an emergency. The epidural was also
cited as problematic with women developing fevers post epidural four times
more often than women who do not receive them. It was noted that infants
of the febrile mothers then receive antibiotics whose effects are unknown.
