I would argue that people have just as much "anguish" giving up other
foods as well, chocolate, coffee, soda, cookies, french fries, juice,
[insert your personal favorite].

I'm not advocating that cow's milk is the "perfect food".  It is just one of
many foods we have the option to eat.   Just because it causes
problems for some  people, doesn't make it universally bad.   I would
never say that someone *has* to drink cow's milk to be healthy.
