I'm still not clear about the transfer of animal viruses to humans. I
was under the impression that most viruses are species specific. In
other words, if I have a cold, I can't give it to my dog and vs. versa.
The dog can however get canine bronchitis ("kennel cough") from other
dogs. Humans can become infected by bacteria (also worms etc.) from
animal droppings.
If a mother is bitten by an animal, what if anything would transfer to
the milk. If the mother were bitten by a rabid animal and didn't
receive the vaccine, would that put the infant in danger?
What about malaria from mosquitoes? A serious problem in some parts of
Africa.
Dalia, are you out there? Maybe you know the answers?
