This show sounds like a repeat of one I saw in Jan 97. Here was the letter I

Producers:

I saw your show today on local WGNO in New Orleans with Dr. Lendon Smith. I
was happy to
see breastfeeding portrayed as a healthy and fun way to feed a baby. I was
pleased to see it
treated as the expected way the soon-to-be parents would feed their baby (the
expectant father
was a guest). I was thrilled to see Dr. Smith state that the formula hype
was a marketing ploy of
the formula manufacturers and refer to the study in which breastfed babies
had higher IQs.

However, one thing bothered me. One host mentioned that some women try to
breastfeed and if
they have trouble, often give up and feel guilty. I wish she would have
suggested that these
mothers contact a La Leche League Leader, Nursing Mothers Council counselor,
a board
certified lactation consultant, or a knowledgeable and breastfeeding-friendly
physician to help
them through their trouble. So often it is a minor adjustment or a simple
correction of
misinformation or mismanagement that can turn things around.

With all of the information now available showing the superiority of
breastmilk and breastfeeding,
and the hazards of artificial feeding, infant feeding has now become a very
important health care
choice for families and no longer just a lifestyle choice. I hope your show
will give this more
coverage in the months ahead. If you need more information regarding any of
the above
sources for help, feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
