Newsweek magazine did a recent cover story on the increased incidence of
asthma and how to protect your kids (without mentioning breastfeeding, of
course). There were three Letters to the Editor selected. One's a good one by
Adrianne Kotras of Fairview Heights, IL:
Although we can limit the agents that induce asthma, the reality is that we
will be exposed to at least one of them at some point in our lifetimes. I'm
convinced the best means of asthma prevention comes from nature in one of its
simplest forms-breast milk. Significant research has been performed regarding
the incidence of allergies in children who were breast-fed. Those who were
breast-fed are less likely to develop allergies thanks to the immunoglobulins
present in breast milk.
Here, here! We can forgive Newsweek for their hyphens and extra spaces.
