What an unfortunate situation.  The midwife who took the situation from the
post and showed it to the mother is the one who breached confidentiality,
IMHO.  We on Lactnet remind each other not to share from Lactnet without
obtaining permission from the author.

Working the other way around, I ask mothers if it's alright to post their
situation on Lactnet.  I've never had a mother refuse.  But, it's nice to
that, if someone on Lactnet recognizes the situation, and inadvertently
mentions it to the mother, she won't be surprised or alarmed.

In this homebirth situation, I wonder if the midwife was posting about a
sensitive issue and she needed some guidance from her colleagues?  For that
reason, I think the other midwife just may have sabotoaged the client-
midwife relationship with rather suspect motives.

It's a good reminder for us to remember our place in our clients' lives and
remain respectful.
