I second Chris Mulford's suggestion about using Kangaroo Care in the NICU.
Studies done by GC Anderson and her many colleagues who trained under her
as students have shown that when mothers begin KC they BECOME mothers to
those babies and are EAGER tog et them home.  Also, those who planned to
breastfeed tend to do so and for longer than others who did not get to do
KC but also planned to breastfeed.  And, I also recall (a bit more dimly, I
admit) reading that more women who did KC also chose to breastfeed after
babies were able than those who had no opportunity to do KC.

KC puts the baby back where s/he belongs: in mom's arms.  Why would that
not also encourage/entice mother to put baby to breast as well?  an
inquiring mind....
