Greetings to all from the lovely Pacific NW! I am NOMAIL just now as I
await the birth of baby #3, but I need help. A friend in Kingsville, Texas
delivered a 4lb ?oz 33 weeker on June 13. Baby was briefly ventilated and
quickly weaned to room air over a couple of days. The issue of course is
feeding! Babe is at a hospital in Corpus Christi, a one hour plus drive
from family home and was started on bottle feeds one week ago. Mom is
present daily for two of the (every 3 hour) feeds and she tries
breastfeeding when she is there, pumping afterward and every 2-3 hours
otherwise. She is concerned about nipple confusion and making the
transition to home, likely to occur this weekend. She has already been
notified that baby will *need* supplementation. My question is: is there
anyone on LACTNET living nearby this family who could provide hands-on
assistance (perhaps with cup feeding, SNS, easing the transition to home,
dealing with misinformation, etc)??? Please e.mail me privately asap if you
have any suggestions, advice, or are locally available for these folks!
TIA very much!

Ann Marie
