Hi to anyone who's actually reading this one more circ' post,
I brought up this subject, and in many ways I'm sorry I did. I only
wanted to know how other sites are dealing with problems associated with
early circumcision. Interestingly, while many of you are aware anecdotally
that feeding problems may ensue if circ's are done prior to infants having
successfully breastfed, it seems none of your settings have (written)
policies regarding this.
Many thanks to all those who provided practical advice to me. I intend to
propose to our multi-disciplinary OBS committee that circ's be delayed
until infants have breastfed successfully, and mothers' milk is in. If by
some act of God this actually passes, I'll quietly slip the new policy onto
Lactnet, and try not to provoke another onslaught of opinions!!
Thanks again,
Paula Conning, BScN, IBCLC
