Regarding the nurse who felt that it was not in this mother's best interest to breastfeed: in the days when it was most commonly male doctors who "determined what was best" for their patients without consulting them, we called that "paternalism".  Gee, how nice that now that there are many female doctors and male nurses, and we are on a more equal standing as health care professionals, we women/nurses can be paternalistic too....  :(
